We all know that we are living with environmental pollution. It is more of a problem for people who live in big cities or metros like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, etc. Carbon monoxide is the main ingredient of environmental pollution ,which is increasing because of dense traffic conditions in metro cities and burning of organic/inorganic waste.
It is making air unbreathable. It is time that everybody becomes a little bit of a farmer in Mumbai by doing their contribution to environmental sustainability. This is only possible if people adapt to gardening at home or kitchen gardening and organic farming in metro cities as a passionate hobby as per their capacity and will.
Because of climate change and global warming, our home itself is full of dangerous gases. We generally are not aware of dangerous gases like :
- Acidic gases and ammonia from toilets
- Formaldehyde from garbage bin
- Benzene, xylene and other inorganic chemicals from detergents, surface cleaners
- Trichloroethylene from varnish and wood finishing chemicals, paints, etc
- Toxic gases from air conditioner and electronic equipment e.g. computer,TV,etc
Generally people notice following symptoms and health problems because of these invisible gases:
- Itching
- Various types of allergies
- Burning sensation in eyes
- Asthma
- Coughing in winter
These gases can be neutralised by having various kinds of indoor plants in our home. Some plants can clean air and remove pollution from our home and office. Following plants help in reducing the effect of these gases in our home:
